Paediatric Infectious Diseases is the Paediatric super specialty that deals with infections in children:
- It is one of the most important paediatric super specialties as a vast majority of paediatric problems are related to infection
- There are a myriad of Paediatric Neurological Conditions, with varying degree of severity and scope of treatment, that range from common and relatively benign febrile seizures to uncommon yet complex neurometabolic disorders
- Affected children may have multiple disabilities and complex medical needs. They are looked after well by a multidisciplinary team that provides comprehensive medical care
The treatment plan includes:
- Seizures/Epilepsy Cerebral Palsy Headaches/Migraine Acute Neurological Conditions Autism/Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
- A child’s musculoskeletal problems are different from those of an adult. Because children are still growing, their body’s response to injuries, infections, and deformities may be quite different than what it would be seen in a full-grown person
- Children with complex paediatric problems such as cerebral palsy and spinal bifida are best managed by a combined medical-surgical team approach
- The department provides services ranging from outpatient clinics to managing emergencies in our state of the art ICU
